Electromechanical Bow Telescopic Lightmast

Telescopic electromechanical linear actuators ELECTROMAST are the natural EVOLUTION in the high added value market of the LUXURY YACHT, which is rapidly transforming itself by the means of new electromechanical technologies in order to be more efficient energy-wise, more compact, lighter, more silent and almost no polluting.

This series of products has the benefits coming from design, production and application know-how on all the main and most demanding markets and in all the most important industrial sectors of machine builders.

The very high care in manufacturing all the main parts in order to get very accurate dimensional, form and position tolerances and the design solutions applied to get an assembly with a very good concentricity and straightness of the moving parts delivers a very stiff product resulting the best for marine application of this kind.

ELECTROMAST actuator is a purely electromechanical linear cylinder with telescopic rods: they are 3 carbon fibre driven rods. Marine threated driving parts are in special light alloy. Its task is to lift up and down at the bow of the ship longer than 50 m at anchor and navigation lights when needed.

The MAIN ADVANTAGES of this innovative solution are:

  • - LIGHT WEIGHT. The system is a completely electromechanical one, i.e. no hydraulic parts are there; it is lighter than an hydraulic one because the 3 extension rods are in carbon fibre and the main internal driving parts are in a special light alloy, thus non dedicated powerpack and hundreds of liters of oil are there: weight of about 450 Kg for a stroke of 8,5 m).
  • - COMPACTNESS. No powerpack, tubes, valves and hundreds liters of oil are there, because it is purely electromechanical: just 1 component with a cylindrical shape (the shown here case fully retracted is about 4,3 m long with a max outer diameter of 412 mm diameter) delivering a great benefit: MORE ROOM AVALABLE.
  • - ECOLOGICAL. Being purely electromechanical there is NO OIL LEAKAGE in the technical areas and thus in the sea; furthermore there are no risks at all of breaking high pressure oil tubes, resulting then in potential fires aboard and big pollution of the environment.
  • - ENERGY EFFICIENCY. The system is a self-locking one, thus, once in the required position, whatever it is, it stands still without any power supply. Thus IT CONSUMES ENERGY ONLY WHEN DRIVEN.
  • - INTERNAL HOLLOW STRUCTURE. The actuator is perfectly hollow inside, its diameter allows the electric cables supplying energy to the lights to go through it, this way they are fully protected (last longer) and are not seen (better aesthetics of the unit). They can be winded automatically by a spring winder.
  • - SILENCE. There is no oil compressor noise first. Then, as the system uses very silent driving and supporting parts, it delivers a VERY LOW NOISE LEVEL.
  • - AESTHETICS. From the walking floor surface only the pack of the 3 carbon fibre rods and their stainless steel polished flanges are seen; in a very compact unit when fully retracted.
  • - UP AND DOWN DRIVEN. The internal mechanical system which drives the 3 rods works in both verses, not only for lifting up operation: rods extension and retraction are driven in the same way. So if salt deposits doesn’t allow retraction movement normally because it’s stronger the weight force in our case our internal driving system pulls down the 3 rods.
  • - HIGHLY REDUCED INSTALLATION COSTS. The actuator has a connection flange on its upper part, by which it is rigidly connected to the ship. The shipyard must add a radial “embracing” ring in order to avoid tilting at sea. Once adjustaded the embedded electromechanical limit switches you just have to connect motor and limit switches cables.
  • - SAFER. Being purely electromechanical there are no risks at all of breaking high pressure oil tubes, resulting then in potential fires aboard.

SEARD is a purely electromechanical linear cylinder born to open / close tender garage panels / bath platforms, to drive rods of cranes, to drive rudder systems, etc.

The MAIN ADVANTAGES of this innovative solution are:

  • - REMOTE DRIVE. The actuator has a remote drive system, in case of fault of the main electric servomotor, which can be of 2 types: by a special flexible cable drive unit or by an auxiliary electric motor.
  • - LIGHT WEIGHT. The system is a completely electromechanical one, i.e. no hydraulic parts are there; it is lighter than an hydraulic one because there is no dedicated powerpack and many liters of oil are not there.
  • - COMPACTNESS. No powerpack, tubes, valves and many liters of oil are there, because it is purely electromechanical: just 1 component delivering a great benefit: MORE ROOM AVALABLE.
  • - ECOLOGICAL. Being purely electromechanical there is NO OIL LEAKAGE in the technical areas and thus in the sea; furthermore there are no risks at all of breaking high pressure oil tubes, resulting then in potential fires aboard and big pollution of the environment.
  • - ENERGY EFFICIENCY. The system is a high mechanical efficiency one, thus, IT CONSUMES A VERY LOW AMOUNT OF ENERGY WHEN DRIVEN.
  • - SILENCE. There is no oil compressor noise first. Then , as the system uses very silent driving and supporting parts, delivers a VERY LOW NOISE LEVEL.
  • - HIGHLY REDUCED INSTALLATION COSTS. The actuator has only 4 cables which are connected to the electrical cabinet, nothing else.
  • - SAFER. Being purely electromechanical there are no risks at all of breaking high pressure oil tubes, resulting then in potential fires aboard.
